ASUS S400CA - HDMI Connection not working. When I connect my ASUS S400CA with HDMI cable to SONY TV, it is not recognized input of TV in windows 10. The same was working in windows 8.1. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. So I decided to use HDMI for audio/video to the TV and attach the optical cord from my Maximus VI directly to my receiver. (it's an old receiver so it doesn't have HDMI in ports). I have all of my RealTek drivers up to date, but the MoBo doesn't even pick up that the optical cord has been plugged in and there is NO sound at all coming through. Please check if the HDMI cables are connected properly and also try connecting another HDMI cable and see if the issue persists. Meanwhile please follow the methods below and see if it helps in resolving the issue. Method 1: I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and check if it helps. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

THIS IS A FIX
Hello,
I had this issue today with my ASUS LCD monitor. I called tech support and they couldn't help me at all, they recommended an RMA. I checked online and couldn't find anything either. I fixed it... it is extremely simple!! I want to post this online for others having this problem. At the moment, the ASUS website is down, or else I'd be posting it on their forum.
If you are having this issue, press the button just to the left of the Power button, it will cycle through the available inputs. Press it until you see your desktop...
The manual does NOT say anything about this button, and it is not marked well. One thing I cannot believe is that ASUS actually told me to RMA the monitor... I asked them repeatedly 'Are you sure there is not anything I can do to fix it?' and they just kept telling me that it was a 'known issue' and that an RMA would likely be the only solution.
So, if you are having this problem, press the button to the left of the Power button and it will fix it!
Tell you what, I almost had a stroke over this. It's my birthday, and I thought my monitor died. I was in disbelief, and am still in disbelief over the service I got from customer support.
What's more? The manual included with the monitor does not even give a customer support phone number, or any type of troubleshooting, I had to go online to find it on my laptop. I found that an unfortunate amount of people were actually RMA'ing the monitor. I want to post this to help anyone having this issue.
Cheers

Among many mediums to transfer audio and video data between electronic devices, HDMI is the latest and the most widely used interface. HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface and for proper communication between two hardware components, both receiver and sender devices must recognize the HDMI signal and is often called HDMI handshake. In case there is a miscommunication due to one reason or another, there will not be any output on the display or audio device. You can resolve the issue of “no HDMI signal” by following DIY steps at home or your office.

Check Connections

The first and the most common problem can be loose HDMI connections. So, check the HDMI ports at both the source and output section. If you think the ports have become loose, you should buy a new HDMI cable and some good quality cables come equipped with a self-locking mechanism. Check HDMI cables on Amazon.

Change Port

Asus Monitor No Signal

By changing the port, I mean you should try to change the ports both physically and on-screen software. Sometimes, by mistake, we change the input source on the TV or monitor, so open the display settings on the monitor (there will be a touch button or a push button on the screen-frame itself). Now select the appropriate signal source.

In case you are using the TV as an output display and audio device, it’s time to review your selected input source. You can press the source button on the remote and see all the available options. As you can see in the image below, you can toggle between HDMI1 or HDMI2 and so on.

So, apart from changing port settings on the software menu, you should also try to change the port physically on the output device. As you can see if you are not getting signal in one HDMI port try to plug-in the cable in another port.

Check Projections

On a windows system press windows key +P to open the screen projections. Here, you can see various options that include PC-screen only, Duplicate, Extend, and the second screen only. Make sure the right option is selected depending on the number of screens, you are using.

Check Device Drivers

If you are not getting a display on the monitor of your desktop PC, you need to recheck the software drivers of the display card or on-board display chip. Open device manager, (windows key+R and type “devmgmt.msc”). Now select the display adapter and right click on it to update the drivers. If you have drivers-dump on your system you can give its path or can automatically update the latest display drivers from the internet.

Factory Reset

Not all but most of the electronics devices provide the option to factory reset them This is handy in case something goes wrong and allows you to roll back to the original settings. You can open the menu on the monitor and look for factory reset settings. Sometimes, you do net get display on TV set after firmware or software update on DISH-TV receiver/set-top box. If that is the case, you can open your dish-TV settings and set it to factory-reset to regain the display.

HDMI converters

Most of us use converter cables to convert the DVI signals to HDMI or vice-versa. See the examples of HDMI to DVI cables. Chances of in-compatibility of these cables are high when we try to connect an older output device to a new input device or vice-versa. The reason is that your new device might be updated to the latest firmware and proper handshake is not achieved between older and newer ports. Furthermore, you must note that DVI is capable of transmitting only video signals and for audio, you still need to use audio ports.

Power cycling

This process is an act of recovering the electronics device from the state of un-responsiveness by resetting all the configuration parameters. To power cycle the monitor you just need to disconnect the HDMI cables and turn off the power. Now, wait for few minutes before turning it on. This method can work like charm for you.
